The studio
A tattoo shop without the attitude
Four artists, one piercer and a converted print shop on the East Side. Serious about the craft, relaxed about everything else.

Our story
It started with one chair
Mara Quinn opened Sigil in 2016 with one chair, a second-hand autoclave and a waiting list from nine years of tattooing in other people’s shops. She wanted a studio where first-timers felt as welcome as collectors, and where nobody rolled their eyes at a question.
Today Sigil is four resident artists and a full-time piercer in an old print shop on Calder Street. We stay small on purpose: you meet your artist before you book, and the person who draws your design is the one who tattoos it.

Straight from the chair
★★★★★
I walked in with a Pinterest board and a lot of nerves. Mara turned it into something completely mine, talked me through every step and the blackwork healed perfectly.

Theo covered a faded name on my shoulder with a peony so bold you would never know. Honest about what was possible, and fun to sit with for six hours.
Marcus D. · Cover-Up Consultation
★★★★★
My first tattoo, a tiny fine-line sprig, and Elias made it feel easy. The lines are still crisp a year later.
